RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) Testing

I am going to a wellness center this Sat. to have a 10 minute RMR test. This test is supposed to accurately measure your calorie expenditure at rest. It is done by breathing into a tube which is connected to a machine which calculates oxygen consumption and then calories. This gives you the data you need to plan for weight loss, gain or maintenance. Has anyone had this test done and were you successful with your weight loss? I am doing this because those online calculators are just estimates. They don't take into account muscle mass, etc. Tell me what you think!

I had it done at my heaviest and I was very surprised. I always thought I had slow metabolism, but mine came back very normal. It was nice to know that number and I made my RMR my initial calorie goal because we burn more than that during the day, but I knew my body needed that amount to keep me going in a healthy way.0

Help!
Just had my RMR tested and it came back that me RMR was 727. My trainer said it was from yo-yo dieting. My. Body fat is 35% and weigh 157 at 5'7. Any recommendations on how to fix this?0 -

Pretty sure that the mask wasn't sealed correctly or that something else was wrong. Go back and ask for a retest. In the mean time start lifting weights and make sure to eat around 100g of protein. Don't worry about dieting, try to eat at your TDEE (which they should have told you the number they expect that you would maintain at). It will take a while to fix it and you may gain before you start losing.0 -
I'm curious what this trainer did to test you to get 727. I've heard of gyms that will try to sell you personal training packages that will solve the problem they just made up for you.0
