When will I see a real difference?

I'm 5ft 8 and I started at 196lbs and now I'm at 174 lbs.... but when I look at myself in the mirror, I can see I've gone a little thinner but I can't see a massive difference. My family have said the same! BUT I'm still motivated to carry on losing the pounds.
I carry a lot of fat in my stomach (ofc) and have lost weight by mainly dieting but will start cardio soon as I haven't had time for this lately. At what lbs mark do you think I'll start seeing a real difference in my body?
Wanted to ask this because I thought others may have experienced this.

No one can answer this question accurately. Fat loss is individual and will happen over time. Sometimes when you carry your weight a certain way it is hard to see a loss for a while.
Take pictures and measurements at the first of every month. The scale never accurately reflects what is really happening.
If you really want to see some body recomp? Start doing some strength training. Picking up heavy things will give you a lot of bang for your buck.0 -
It depends. Sorry, I know that's vague, but its the only answer to your question. Some people lose 10 lbs and can tell right away. Some people lose 70 lbs and don't think they look different until they look at pictures side by side. My suggestion is to track measurements, take pictures occasionally (1x a month is my recommendation), assess by your clothing fit, and by the mirror. I know that seems like a lot, but we all do the last two anyway.0

Not sure if you are incorporating strength training, but results are much more noticeable when you lift0

I've had the same problem. Cardio and resistance training will start reshaping your body and you will see results. I'm battling the midsection bulge as well. The rest of me is looking tone and muscular, but the belly (and chin fat) is still there though getting smaller.0

It will be different for everyone.
I started around 178 Dec. 25th last year. I'm now down to 145.1, losing for the last couple of months steadily about 1 pound per week on average. I can see a difference but to me it doesn't seem drastic. In the past 2 weeks, I'm getting comments left & right though. From people I haven't seen in a while (expected) but also some I see on a weekly basis. I have been working to improve my posture, and can't help but wonder if my posture & self-confidence play a part in how others see me? Or if its really that much. (Hubby says it is a drastic change, and it was helpful to hear that from him - because its too easy to see the things we want to change, and not realize the positive changes we've made.)0
