My advice to you would be to take it one day at a time. Don't worry about getting the weight off quick, rather focus on changing your eating habits. The mind is a complex thing and the moment you tell yourself you "can't" have something, you are going to want it that much more.

Swap out the fruits for more protein dense things. Will keep you fuller longer and more satisfied :) I eat a lot of cashews and almonds and those keep me feeling full.

Sugar... both of these are fruits with high sugar counts so yep you get hungry... try having a salad, just a simple even just a lettuce blend with a salsa or low calorie dressing you are still WAY under the calories of these fruits and the fiber of the lettuce will keep you full much longer!

Without looking at your diary, I have to ask how many calories you are NETTING a day. I would guess you are eating too little. That seems to be the most common problem with new MFP members. Also, try eating 5 small meals a day rather than 3 large ones. Try to add more protein in your diet, which keeps you feeling satisfied longer. These are some of the things I do and it works wonders.

    MFP is not like WW.

    WW - Banana = 0 points
    MFP - Banana = 110 cals

MFP and WW are not the same. I'm sure the scale will work fine, but veggies and fruit aren't "freebies" in the real world.

Do you like bananas as much as popsicles? It looks like you really love popsicles.

Do a protein shake before bed. Use ice and either water or milk if you prefer, a scoop of chocolate protein powder and blend - taste better than any fast food shake to me and the protein will help you sleep without being hungry.

#1 - No protein shake tastes like a fast food shake. Let's not lie to the girl.

#2 - Whey protein is very quickly digested and is not much help in the way of satiety.....Would be just as well off drinking a large glass of water.

I started my 2nd wave of losing weight about month and half ago. Started off with 255 lbs and now I am at 233. Small meals and no big meals after 6 pm is the way I did it. If I get hungry in between or after 6 pm, I would have fruit snacks like grapes, apples, and bananas (small ones). Also working out every day and walking my dogs is helping me.

Too much sugar intake with those fruits, it just creates the want of more. Start researching foods better and don't assume just because its a veggie or a fruit its "healthy" for you...Your body can't tell the difference between processed sugar or fruit sugar...Your body a science it processes the molecules the same

    going to bed hungry sucks!!!!

its possible you are simply running to high a defecit. if you are convinced your not, another tactic would be to eat something right before bed.

I'm on 1800 cals right now, which is pretty strict for me. I'll make sure that i save around 250-500 cals to eat pretty much right before i go to bed. If i don't i'll wake up at 4 oclock starving.

its also nice because then i have all those calories to eat when i sit in front of the tv at night, which is when i'll get the munchies anyway.

i agree that your body can't tell the differnce between the sugars, because your body has to break down every carb into glucose in order to absorb it in your blood stream.

but rather then assume this is damning to all sugars, i just don't feel much more guilty about eating a candy bar every day.

eat 'clean', do IIFMM.... either way you are going to have to eat in moderation to create a defecit.

its a personal choice as to which one is more sustainable for you.

i can skip that candy bar, but it greatly increases the changes that i'll take spoonful after spoonful out of the peanut butter jar lol. which is going to be worse for my weight loss goals.

someones telling you they are hungry and the best answer you have is eat something with less calories?

the only reason sugar (or any carb) might make you more hungry is if it causes a blood sugar spike that will be followed by an inevitable drop in blood sugar.

fruit has a very low GI

I absolutely love munching on fruit (mostly because of the high sugar) but I found I was still super hungry. My personal trainer told me that if you have a serving of fruit, have a small handful of almonds. I started to do this and I feel fuller. I now carry a small container of almonds everywhere I go to munch on if/when I get hungry.
After each workout I make sure I take the time to grab some kind of protein. I like Premier Protein Chocolate Shakes (it's 120 cal, 1g sugar, and 30g of protein) I feel nice and full afterwards. When I first started to watch what I ate it felt like I was always hungry no matter what I did. High protein works for me.

I did WW about five years ago, after my second child was born. I lost 25lb while my husband was deployed. I really liked it. I still like some things about it better than the MFP calorie counter (weekly vs daily emphasis, hitting your points goal vs staying under your calories, the flex points). I thought mentally, WW was easier. Just follow the plan!

But MFP has taught me more. WW is a good starting point though. IMO.

Of course almonds will make you fuller. You are ingesting more calories with your fruit. A handful of almonds probably has more than 100 calories in it, so be careful.

I measure out my alloted amount of almonds every morning. No more than 1/4 cup a day, which is 170 calories according to the package. That's something I can happily live with. I've given myself a 2,000 calorie diet and I rarely go over. (I used to eat between 3000-4000 calories a day in junk)

First of all - Welcome and congrats on taking the major steps to a better life.

My two-cents would be to first and foremost look at WHAT you are snacking on, not necessarily the calories. 110 calories of banana is more nutritious than 110 calories of processed foods, IMO. I do eat some processed foods, but I keep it to a minimum. I've noticed that with portion control and natural foods, the calories sort of take care of themselves, because I'm not constantly hungry. I also try to drink a glass of water immediately before each meal. This helps me to feel fuller, longer.

I buy Jay Robb and to me they do taste better than a fast food shake. I had a McDonald's chocolate one as a treat not long ago and prefer my protein shakes - McDonald's was too sweet and sickly tasting. I guess good for me that I don't want fast food shakes any more. Having one at night worked for me but again. Maybe that's just me.

Eat proper dinner before going to bed, which should have decent amount of protein and fat. That will keep your stomach feeling full. Carbs will get digested pretty quickly and will be counterproductive to the release of growth hormones.

I feel your pain! I LOVE bananas - healthy carbs, easy to transport and filling. If you like eggs, eat a hard boiled egg with your banana. Much more filling and satisfying after a workout. I leave my after workout snack in the car so I can eat it right after I workout and before I get too hungry. I also like frozen red raspberries with two packets of stevia and a half a cup of Fage nonfat Greek yogurt. You could boil some eggs and keep them in your fridge to add an egg white or two to any fruit snack. Also try cucumbers or adding a head of steamed broccoli to your meals. I wish you well on your journey.
