I have heard of a breakfast on the go (pre made in advance) what I was told is that you boil an egg and peel it. cover the egg with a super thin layer of sausage and coat with something and then bake ....anyone have a recipe and/or calorie count? this sounded good. thanks

Original recipe makes 4 servingsChange Servings
    1 pound pork sausage meat
    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled
    1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

    Directions

In a medium bowl, mix together the pork sausage and Worcestershire sauce. Combine the flour, salt and pepper; mix into the sausage.
Divide the sausage into four equal parts. Mold each part around one of the hard-cooked eggs, rolling between your hands to shape. Place the beaten egg and bread crumbs into separate dishes. Dip the balls into the egg, then roll in the bread crumbs until coated. Shake off any excess.
Heat the oil in a large saucepan or deep fryer to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C), or until a cube of bread dropped into the oil turns brown in 1 minute. Lower the eggs carefully into the hot oil. Fry for 5 minutes, or until deep golden brown.

  • I make these for my husband who just loves them. I like a sage sausage, but he prefers plain. Do make the sausage layer as thin as possible. After covering with sausage, I roll it in well beaten eggs and then roll it in plain panko. Then fry in peanut oil. It takes some time to cook the sausage through if thick so peanut oil allows for higher temp and longer frying without burning...in my opinion. I do not have a calorie count....sorry.

I just saw the above recipe which sounds great. But I just use ready made sausage and wrap the egg in that. No added flour or anything. Roll in plain eggs and plain panko. Still delicious with less ingredients and more than likely (I'm guessing here) less calories since not adding flour and bread crumbs. I'm sure both or delicious. :)
