How many times did YOU edit your Macros??

Hey all -

I have only been on MFP for going on three weeks and although I thought I would get nothing from it, maybe just some calorie counting, I really have learned so much. It has been inspiring and motivational to see ladies, just like me, loosing it. Also, how they got to losing it helped me a lot in finding out what is "right" for me.

It took a lot of questions, research and tweaking but I feel I finally have my macros correctly. Now it is time to strive to eat better every day.

If anyone has any helpful advice for a woman looking to lose 40 more lbs or if there are any stories you would like to share about struggles and successes when you started, please do! Every new one I get more motivated and excited to continue eating right and working out! I cannot wait to be on the success board!

Good luck to all and thanks for the support!

ps. - feel free to add

What do you have your macros set at?

By the way, I would recommend using this link to edit your macros more precisely. It lets you select your macros in 1% increments, or by grams. Basically, add this link as a bookmark, and when you're on the edit goals page... click the link... then you can select your macros like a pro.

    javascript:(function(e,a,g,h,f,c,b,d){if(!(f=e.jQuery)||g>f.fn.jquery||h(f)){c=a.createElement("script");c.type="text/javascript";c.src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/"+g+"/jquery.min.js";c.onload=c.onreadystatechange=function(){if(!b&&(!(d=this.readyState)||d=="loaded"||d=="complete")){h((f=e.jQuery).noConflict(1),b=1);f(c).remove()}};a.documentElement.childNodes[0].appendChild(c)}})(window,document,"1.3.2",function($,L){(function(){var e=document.createElement("script");e.setAttribute("src","http://karoshiethos.com/js/mfp_cwfix.js");document.body.appendChild(e)})()});

I'm no where near the end of my journey, however... what had kept me going is the "little victories"
    a compliment
    clothes fitting differently
getting stronger while losing etc.Good Luck! And remember even something silly, can be a little victory, as long as it makes you feel good about what you're doing!

As far as the Macros, I haven't edited mine at all.

I just started with the macros counting. As you mentioned, I was the same way with regards to thinking I'd literally just be counting calories etc. However, a close friend of mine put me on to counting the macros. In fact I have specific Macro goals that I'm using after having switched my app to measure in Grams in oppose to %. I initially added this app in 2013 during my first round of weightloss, but of course fell off the wagon. Now that I'm doing more lifting than cardio, measuring my macros will give me the energy i need to lift, but i plan to change my macros gradually every other week as my body changes! Macros are literally just a more precise way to track things. But they change based on your body and goals. So everyone could be different. Good luck….i for one kno I'll need it!

Once when they started the ETP board and every single time I've tweaked my calorie goals since then.

I have a standard set of macros for most days and I change it once or twice a week to increase carbs and then back to normal after my high carb day. In other words, I do low carb about 5 or 6 days a week at 2K calories. Once or twice a week i up the carbs and thus the calories.

Right now I have 40/30/30 (proteins/carbs/fats) with calories in 1600. Doing TDEE but of course learning as I go alone. Thank you for the link!

Yes! I wrote this earlier on my homepage but I will paste it here - this was my "little victory" today:

Have a song parody I sing sometimes when I get too full, if anyone knows DJ Khaled they will know this song. It goes: "I'm so fuuuulll. I've got my pants unbuttoned at the waist because I ate too much in this damn place, and I need to fart to make some space... I'm so fuuulll"

I would sing it while actually unbuttoning my jeans lol but now after only 11lbs, I ate like a mad woman and my jeans still fit, if anything, a tad loose around the wait. What a great feeling! I had to share with someone because I almost sang the song earlier at lunch when I said out loud that I am full but realized, I need to make up a new one!

I don't see it but I always have a difficult time when someone compares me to an actress. The one I get a lot is: Sara Ramirez from greys anatomy... but thanks!

I have my macros set for low-carb 20% and high-fat 50% but don't stress if I have a 50% carb day. I'm not very good at maintaining the same calories every day. My real concern is meeting my protein, especially on exercise days. I like that MFP ups the requirements with exercise, but I'd rather get the extra calories from fat than from carbs. At the end of the week, my pie chart looks 33-33-33. If I had my macros set at 33-33-33, I think I'd be eating too many carbs because of exercise days.

I fiddle with the targets, but the only one I really care about is making sure I consume 0.8-1.0 g protein per pound of lean body mass. The carbs and dietary fat tend to be more incidental than anything, especially because I enjoy snacking on fruit too much..
