Baby food diet

Anyone heard of this? I read about it some time ago, and it kind of seems to make sense but also seems ridiculous. Baby food would have the vitamins and minerals needed... for babies.... but a friend of mine wants to try this. I told her, uh, are you going to eat baby food the rest of your life? She didn't like that. :ohwell:

Never heard of it. Why wouldn't you just eat fruits and vegetables? Baby food looks disgusting to me. Granted, I didn't even feed my own child baby food, so what do I know.

The super stupid part of this diet is that babies are suppose to gain weight in order to grow.

But...why??? Don't give into schemes! If you want to try something out for size try just eating less gooed food and sauces- less processed sugar, no soda, no mayonnaise, watch oils, no ketchup.

No refined sugar, no grains, as much raw as possible and mindful protein is a great combo.

Water and sleep is as important to any diet as anything else.

    Good luck!

Believe me I have no intention of trying this diet. I'll eat baby food when I have no teeth left, thanks. I told my friend about MFP and told her to try it, but she wants to try this. She thinks it's a fast way to lose weight, and I told her yeah, and then you'll put it right back on just as fast when you stop the baby food.

^^ This is just as bad of a suggestion as a baby food diet...

Eat what you like in moderation. Period.

Agreed, fast weight loss isn't always the best. It's typically due to too high of a calorie deficit or too much restriction. As I said in my first post: foods you like + moderation = success.

    It's a VLCD. 500-600 calories per day.

some baby foods are delicious. my sister and i used to always fight over who got to feed my baby brother when he got the apricot stuff for dessert because we would inevitably steal some for ourselves. lol

As long as it's Paleo baby food, go for it.

    Gluten-free, too.

It's just mashed up food. Is your friend missing teeth? I made my own babies food which was just mashed up food. So if your friend has teeth just tell her it will be babyfood by the time it reaches her stomach

    Umm why?

Assuming you have teeth why would eating mashed carrots or whatever be better than just carrots?

I did it once, a long time ago. I really liked it. But then my Mom introduced solid foods and I liked them even more!

Its an old bodybuilder thing for cutting before a contest. But in reality, everyone who is a juicer and drinks shakes does the same thing.

Sometimes I steal my 1 year old's Gerber snack cookies but I can't even begin to comprehend making a diet out of it. Unless...mashed steak and A-1 sauce

lol when my daughter was a baby I remember throwing an extra jar of the apricot (or banana or peaches or sweet potato) in the cart knowing I'd probably have it for a snack at some point :glasses:

Baby bananas are so good! If she tries eating the baby food meats she really will lose weight from throwing the nasty stuff up. It's like eating canned cat food.

    ^^this!

I wonder if they would make gluten-free pizza with cauliflower crust in stage 2 so I can eat lumps too?

I have heard of this recently actually. I couldn't do it. People go to extremes to lose weight.

I ate baby food when I got my wisdom teeth taken out, I remember enjoying the fruit ones a lot. But, I missed solid food pretty quickly.

What's baby food slop without the chunks?
  • Twice...

Once after I broke my jaw, the second time after a particularly horrible flare-up of TMJ and the dentist wanted me to eat pureed food.

After that, I could barely walk down that aisle in the supermarket!
