i am trying to lose weight but i dont wanna lose muscle
i eat around 1200 calories for 6 days and on the 7th day I eat my maintenance (~1850 calories)

18 years old and MALE........you definitely aren't eating enough.
Losing muscle depends upon several factors.
How much do you have to lose overall? The more you have to lose....the more you are protected from muscle loss.
Losing at a rate that is appropriate for you.....see below
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.
Strength training while eating at a deficit tells your body....."Hey I'm using those muscles"
Eating enough protein is important too.....this is fuel.0 -
