Any advice for a mummy tummy??

So I've just started, I weigh 12st 13lb and I want to get to about 10. I know I have a long way to go but I just want a bit of advice pretty please.

My tummy is my main problem that I want to fix. After having my son 3 years ago I still look 6 months pregnant. I had a c section and have a lip/ overhang around my scar ( sounds so sexy lol!!) also my tummy seems to have a cone like shape to it above my belly button.

At the minute I am aiming for 30 mins of cardio a day to burn the fat. Shall I work on my abs also or just do cardio??

Thanks

Doing ab workouts won't do anything to get rid of the fat by itself. A calorie deficit is what you need for that part. My advice though is to ditch the "exclusive" abs workout and instead incorporate heavy lifting such as squatting and dead lifting. In my experience, belly fat was the first to come and the last to go, especially after having my son. Cardio increases your calorie deficit, which is essential to losing fat, but I seriously recommend heavy lifting to preserve your muscle and burn more fat. When the fat is gone, increase your calories to build muscle, and you'll have a great new tummy!

Yup, you can't spot reduce the fat, or even do anything to target extra skin. Lose weight and it will eventually come off your stomach.

And yes, a heavy lifting routine would be good for you. Lifting while dieting preserves muscle which results in more fat being lost (instead of a mixture of fat and muscle) which will results in a more visually pleasing and healthy physique. I'd suggest either Stronglifts 5x5, Starting Strength, or New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women. If you do not belong to a gym you can look up "You Are Your Own Gym" or "Convict Conditioning".
