More than 1 pound a week?

Hi I a new here.. well not technically new as I have been on and off the board for awhile. I am committed this time to be honest with what I eat, exercise, etc. I have lost 130 pounds via gastric bypass surgery and now have gained approximately 10 - 15 pounds. I know that seems like not too bad of a regain but to me it is feeling like another 50 pounds back on. I am hoping to loose one pound a week. You think realistic?

With such a little amount to lose I would set your goals much lower half a pound a week is far more realistic in my opinion. Good Luck

You don't want the goal to be too high, or you risk losing muscle...I would go for the half pound.

Honestly, I'd look at your numbers and try and figure out what you are REALLY likely to do. How much calorie restriction and how much movement can you reasonable add and subtract in your day?

    Might I suggest going here:

And playing with the numbers to see where you are and where you'd like to be as far as movement and calorie consumption in order to know what is realistic for you to lose weight.

    Good luck and Good health

Congrats on the 130lbs. off girl! I'm almost 100lbs. down only 4 to go but I have about another 60lbs to loose totally. I'd say 1lb. a week is ok but don't get disappointed if it comes off slower. Just stay focused my friend.

It's harder to lose weight the nearer the goal weight. So I agree with the 1/2 pound or less per week as being realistic. In fact it may be easier for you to burn off the calories through exercise versus eating less, since you've already been through weight loss surgery.

If you're not currently exercising find something you like to do. I get bored on machines, and I am kind of a social person so have to work out with others or I won't. So Jazzercise is it for me.
