Beta Blockers and affect on calorie burn

Does anyone have any experience using a beta blocker while losing weight? I started having palpitations (PVC's) and the cardiologist put me on a beta blocker (Bystolic).

Previously while doing cardio my heart rate would steadily be around 150-160 as measured by my HRM. Now, doing the same things, it tops out around 135. I still sweat quite a lot, but I don't tend to feel as winded/out of breath as I used to.

My concerns are:
- Am I now burning fewer calories doing the same exercises?
- Will my TDEE be less from a lower resting heart rate?

    I take 160mg propranolol a day and I have done for some time.

    It hasn't had any effect on my weight loss (or gain before that) and lbs are moving in line with expectations.

    I have heart palpitations but I would never ever take beta blockers. Yes you are burning fewer calories now as they are slowing down your heart rate, I am not too sure on your TDEE but I would think it would be a bit less. If you wanted to monitor your calories burnt for a day, wear your heart rate monitor for 24 hours and monitor it that way. Good luck and I hope I helped.

    HRM are only accurate for calorie burn for steady state cardio work, and even the accuracy of that is sometimes questionable (however it is more accurate than plugging your info into MFP's exercise database and pulling out a number!) If you wear it all day you will absolutely not get a remotely accurate number for your calories burned for the day. You can monitor your heart rate through the day that way but that's about it.
