Ladies! - Giving lee-way during that time of the month?

Hello!!
So, straight to the point. It's "that time of the month" and have been eating a bit more calories than normal. (I am set around 1500 but instead have been eating around 2000)
Do you often give yourself a little lee-way because of all of the cravings and hormone-induced food needs when trying to be healthy or lose weight?
I have found myself tracking, but not caring a whole lot when I am over. What do you think?

I do! I eat more chocolate around that time. I still attempt to stay near my calorie goal though.0

I do my best not to. I try to only have one cheat day a week and unfortunately periods can be a week long! lol0
-
No extra lee-way, really, but I also don't mind if I'm not losing as much as I think I should be.0
-
I personally don't, since I usually feel too bloated to want to eat a lot. I will still exercise through it, though.0

When I'm on my period I don't give in to cravings. If a glass of soda fits in my calorie goals, I might.
It's no different than any other time of the month to me, except I don't exercise or do much physically because of how bad mine are.0 -
If your goal is to lose 1 pound per week, then going over by 500 calories (like you said in OP) would basically put you at maintenance. So, doing that for a week or so may slow your overall loss, but it won't undo the work you've done the rest of the month. If it helps you, then there's nothing wrong with that.
I do give myself a bit of lee-way during TOM. For me, it is generally that I'm more relaxed in my macros (I crave carbs!) but even in my calories I allow a bit of extra if I need it to get through that week.0 -
No extra lee way, but if I go over I don't beat myself up and I always fit in what I'm craving I hate TOM but I refuse to let him win lol0

Mine is more when I ovulate, and yes, I give myself some extra calories.
If I am walking around hungry then other people fear for their life.0 -
Generally, yes. I still track my food to make sure I'm not going crazy, but a week of eating at maintenance isn't going to hinder my progress too much. It's just a brief pause.0

I will eat at maintenance a few days leading up to and the first day. Helps me out in the long run to have extra cals a few days out of the month!!!0

Nope, business as usual. IMO it's a handy excuse to cheat; it's really not hard to stick to your plan.0

I don't really get specific food cravings during that time of the month, but I am driven to eat more in general. I think it's in response to losing blood/iron or whatever. I don't use that as an excuse to go over my calories though; I typically eat 2-300 calories less than my goal anyway, so there's a bit of leeway built in to my plan already.0

^^This. Erm, going through this right now (BOOOO!). I'm too bloated to care about comfort eating today. I'm up 2 pounds from the bloat, ugh. But not letting it get me down---I'm just having a well-earned extra rest day (totally over did myself on exercising last week) and going for a nice run tomorrow morning--that will surely make me feel so much better (Yay for endorphins!).0 -
Now that you asked. I just finished mine and just realized that I stayed under my calories and even kept up with my walking and had no food craving. How is that even possible!!!! Not a typical month. LOL. This is the first time that I have not put on weight either. I usually put on up to 10lbs, I'm like a sponge.
Good question!0 -
The week before I get lots of cravings and tend to eat more crisps and pizza and stuff like that. Maybe that makes me a cheat, but whatever... I don't go on to eat a full roast dinner after eating some crisps and pizza!
The actual week of I don't eat so much because I feel so bloated and sick. I tend to just lounge around and drink peppermint tea. I also definitely don't exercise the first two days of my period because it hurts/I feel kind of gross moving to much.0 -
I personally didn't. I currently don't get mine, ue to my birth control (the Cthulu lives in my uterus, and used to make each month so horrible I'd be incapped in bed some days). But back when I did have it regularly, I made sure to be more active and to watch my sodium intake, and to not go overboard. I found it helped alleviate any symptoms I had, and if I overindulged, I'd feel more bloated, puffy, and my cramps would be a lot worse (especially if I was eating a ton of stuff with sodium in it).0
