DAILY CALORIES

How important is it to meet your daily caloric intake? Is it ok to stay under your DCI? Wouldn't that be a good thing? I know you don't want to starve yourself and put your body in "panic" mode, but what if you're getting enough to eat and working out, do you necessarily have to meet your DCI every day?

My thought when I got here was "stay as low as possible" under the calorie goal. I ate about 900 calories a day no matter how much I worked out. It worked for a few weeks - until about 16 pounds lost and then my body panicked. I stalled for a month and I'm still trying to work it out. I'm eating 1200 calories now or as close as possible.0

hey there from all ive read on here you need to eat at least 1200 calories a day...or your body goes into starvation mode,,hope this helps,0

I try to get as close to 1200 as possible - but I have to admit that I HATE to go over at all. I don't think it's a huge deal if you aren't more than 100 less or so... but I wouldn't go any lower than that.0

seriously you should eat arleast 1200 a day, never under. depending on how active you r depends on how much over your calories u should go. the 1200 calorie is set up with a huge calorie defit. so if you sit on your butt all day surfing the web or watching tv, yeah stay at 1200 or as close as possible, the more active you r the more calories your body needs to mantain. if you eat 1200 then burn 700 with exercise then your expecting your body to function on about 500. pretty much it is recommended that you eat half your exercise calories.0

I would stay between 1200-1500, especially if you are working out. :happy:0

Yes. It is important. The whole purpose of that number is to make it easy for you! Your daily desired deficit is calculated into it and keeping it steady and reasonable helps you get stedy results. It isn't a big deal to be slitely short or over (like 50 Cals or so) but you should strive to hit that range every day and get all the important nutrients and vitamins while doing so. It is a life style change so it does often require some doing though..

Its important to have at least 1200 a day.... but I do admit that I struggle with that myself and feel guilty if I eat 1200 calories without burning most of them off.0

so if i'm supposed to stay at 1700 calories per day and I burn 600 durring a work out am I now allowed to eat 2300 for the day or should I try to bank the 600 and still stay under the 1700 mark?
3 BSN Syntha -6 shakes a day is 600 right there...0 -

I would recommend eating 50-75% of your exercise calories.... However its a personal choice....
