Beware water weight fluctuations

I have found that it hard to think past the weight fluctuations caused from salt/sodium intake. It seems hard to believe that a 200-250 lb. person can bounce 5 lbs. in 2 or less days. You pretty much have to say that's just the way it is and keep on track. You also need to maintain drinking fluids to keep from dehydration and other even more serious results if you’re boosting protein intake. I’ve caught myself several times cutting back on my water as I didn’t want to give back my weight lost regardless if it was real weight loss or not. It seems that I fall victim to this whenever I hit a plateau and I can’t break thru it even after increasing my workout effort.
Patients and thinking long term instead of expecting a day to day result may be the best approach.

as in all things you have to keep things regular, but 5 lbs in just water can happen very easy, espically for us larger ones. I could drop 10 lbs if I really needed to, between water weight and cleaning my self out, but problem with that is, it would all just come back when I got back to normal.0

i was just telling a friend of mine about this who got frustrated after gaining so much weight from cheating for a couple of days. i'm in the 120's, and if i cheat for a whole weekend, i can easily put on 8-10 pounds. it can be a huge punch in the stomach at times, but when i do put on water weight, i remind myself that it's just that.0

I hate water weight sooooo much - I'd do anything to be immune! I was below my goal weight 3 days ago, now I'm 5 pounds up from it. After some popcorn and maybe a little food I'm allergic to... seriously? It's so unfair and it makes me want to a) go on a crash diet or b) give up and eat donuts and cake all day
I drank dandelion tea, took diurex, ate a banana, drank water, and it's still here - makes me think it really is, magically, fat :sad:0 -
I used to work for surgeons and one of the docs I worked for said that it's normal for any adult's weight to fluctuate up to 5 pounds from day to day.0

II appreciate the feedback it helps knowing I’m not the only one dealing with the psychology of seeing my weight bounce after maintaining my diet and exercise. I’ve increased my water intake to counter running a hydration deficit while maintaining a heavy workout schedule. Maybe this way I won’t see a weight spike after a 2 day recovery.
The point I hoping to make is that I found it easy to become hydrophobic or reluctant to drink enough water as I knew the result would be hard to deal with.
Maintaining a proper balance of water and electrolytes are most important during weight loss.
Good luck everyone0
