Adding calories to different days

So I have seen a few statuses and stuff about this, and I thought it would be valid to put in a topic for beginners.
Most of us know adding calories to the next day to avoid being in the red for today isn't the right way to do things. I know a few people including myself who did used to do this before we realised it was doing more harm than good.
Anyone with reasons why it hinders goals/ experiences with doing it opposed to logging correctly etc to help people who are starting out realise why this is such a danger to reaching your goals.
PS. Sorry if this has been covered, I haven't seen a topic on it yet that's all.
