Out of date cut sweet potatoes??

I have a packet of bbq flavoured sweet potato chunks in the fridge that I bought from a super market and forgot all about them...are they still safe too eat 2 days out of date?

It's in the oven at the moment, I figured I could taste them to see but I've never had sweet potato flavoured with bbq seasoning before?

I don't have a sense of smell so smelling them is out too.

I really want to eat them. I'm starving, and I'd eat mushrooms, broccoli, normal potatoes out of date so long as they looked ok...I guess it's bugging me because they're pre cut and pre packaged in the fridge and not from the cupboard.

expiry dates are really conservative, its just a time that is guaranteed they wont be spoiled so companies cant be sued or whatnot if they do expire and someone gets sick. 2 days you'll be fine, especially with something like potatoes. plus they were in the fridge which slows the rotting process

eta; potatoes usually get a spongy sort of feeling when they expire, its pretty easy to see if they are good or not just by squeezing them

thank you bigt, I've already started cooking them now so no idea what they felt like, duh..should of tried that one first!

thanks for the reply, I'm sure they will be fine as you say, just get paranoid sometimes because it's not something I eat a whole lot off (can't cut them easily) so was mega pleased to find them in a tray like this. :)
