Best warm up when lifting or can I do this??

I have recently been faithful to a new full body dumbbell routine that I am doing 3 times a week. I do not own a barbell yet or a gym membership, so I am following a basic program based on the compound lifts. Very much like the All Pro routine from bodybuilding.com.
My question is what is the best way to warm up? I see some say a 5-10 minute cardio warm up or others say use lighter weights to warm up by doing your actual strength routine. Can I do body weight exercises as a warm up? Lets say something like this...
20 body weight squats
10 pushups
20 walking lunges
15 second plank
30 jumping jacks
Than begin my dumbbell routine. Is that okay to do?

you can do bodyweight to warm up. I do 5 mins full stretching, then 5 mins hard cardio as warmup and then 5 mins hard cardio and 5 mins stretching post lifting.0

Bodyweight warm up and/or dynamic stretching.
DON'T do static stretching to warm up.

I think the best warm up for a lift is doing that lift with lighter weight.
but i think its even better if you do some lite cardio and stretching prior as well0 -
Didn't you just say in another post that you go to a gym that does excersizes in 6-8 in heels?0

No. If you are talking about the post about wearing heals to workout, I commented in there, but I said nothing of that nonsense.
Edit: Madhatter if you go back to that post, you will see that I was quoting the person who actually did say that to make a comment against it.0 -
Thank you all for the great information. I had to google static and dynamic stretches. I didn't know the difference. I am still learning when it comes to working out.
I will try the body weight exercises as a warm up and make sure I stretch post workout.0 -

This. Do warm up sets, starting very light and adding weight until you are close to where you actually want to start. The trick is doing few enough warmups that you don't wear yourself out too much.0 -
I like to do some cardio first, especially since I go to the gym after work and have sat on my butt all day. Then I'll warm up with a few light sets before getting to the heavy sets.0
