My name is Sara, 33, mother of four awesome kids, been on here for a bit, but finally getting around to socializing.
I never liked the idea of "dieting", I do however want to change my habits, my thinking, and be healthy, for myself, as well as my family. Dieting in our house is a bad word, my daughter had/has an eating disorder, so I turned off any desire to be fit and ate, a lot. I packed on 15-20 lbs pretty quickly. When you have gone out of your way to never talk about weight, never obsess over size...how does this happen? I never dieted...I ate healthier. If the kids would ask why I was eating better, I always said something about being healthier, better for my heart, better chance to avoid diabetes which both run in my family, blood pressure...etc., never anything about disliking what I looked like, or my dress size. So for a time...the idea of being thinner/more fit made me sick to my stomach. I know now that I went to the opposite extreme...which is equally bad. I feel like I am doing this in secret. I am the ninja dieter, I hide my scale, I buy junk food, I don't let anyone see that I am on MFP, using my IPOD mostly, and that goes with me wherever I go. I feel as if I am doing well, physically, but still dealing with it emotionally/mentally, but working on that, slowly but surely.

The social aspect of MFP is really great. Such wonderful encouragement on here. I like your answers to your daughter/family about eating healthier. That's a big part of it...a lifestyle change for the better.
You can do it!
Friend me for support!I could use some too! I'm stuck in a rut lately. :ohwell:

Good morning! Just introducing myself...I am a 41 year old mom of 4 (1 girl in university and 3 boys, 1 in high school and 2 in elementary school)...and I work as a receptionist...I have gained weight since the birth of my last 2 boys and my weight has fluctuated up and down since however since I hit 40 it has slowly been climbing higher and higher! It's time for me to take a stand and reclaim my health and figure! It's a struggle but the journey is worth it! I am staying positive and enjoying the journey!
I would like to thank my friend (she knows who she is) for telling me about this site, I am excited and happy to be a part of "myfitnesspal"! I wish everyone the best!
