Will I?

Will I loose weight if I consume 1500 calories a day? My past diet had been (smack myself in the face) 3000+ calories a day for a long time. I have gained up to 279 pounds and when I saw that on the scale I about lost it. I recently got the ok from my doctor to do whatever exercise I want with moderation and of course building it up. I have started doing Turbo Fire and I LOVE it! On the days that I don't do turbo I take a walk with my family. I can only do the workout for 15-20 minutes at full force but I have been able to go up to 50 minutes while taking it easy or easier than try are lol it still kicks my butt. I am trying to find the ratios that work for me and although I am eating healthy foods, or healthier than before I am still getting about 40-50% carbs. Will I still loose weight with that many carbs? I am eating whole grain breads or wraps and the only "sweet" I have is a low fat yogurt. I have noticed tho that bananas are carb over load so after today I will only have them in moderation. Any advice?

As long as you are eating at a deficit, you can eat whatever you want.

It sounds like your are off to a good start. 1500 should be a deficit for you, so you should lose fat. 40-50% carbs should not be a problem, espeically since you are choosing high fiber carbs. Try it for a few weeks and if you aren't getting the results you think you should, you can tweak it later.

Turbo Fire is hands down my favorite DVD workout. Tough, but also fun. Best of luck to you.

Caloric deficit leads to weight loss so do the math. If 1500 calories is below what your body burns through normal activities plus exercise ... you'll lose. MFP tracks calories from exercise separately those burned through normal daily activities. As you progress, redo the math to stay on track.

You absolutely can lose weight eating 1,500 calories a day, especially coming from a 3,000+ a day diet! Not to mention, you are excerisisng almost everyday. Cutting out that many calories will sure make a difference, but you also want to make sure you are eating enough. You do not want to slow your metabolism, which will slow your weight loss process.

My suggestion is use a calorie calculator (they are all over Google) to see the suggested calorie intake for your body type, and activity levels, and go from there. I used to eat 3 meals per day and count calories, but found a HUGE difference in splitting up those three larger meals, into six smaller meals. This way, your metabolism is working faster to break down each meal, without ever hitting a "slow" period.

I also wouldn't suggest cutting out carbs completely, seeing you need them for energy! I would recommend doing some research on "good" carbs. Some examples are: Eizkel bread (the cinnamon raisin is delicious!) brown rice, sweet potatoes, and your occasional wheat items. Just some advice be careful with whole wheat breads and wraps, just because they may be lower in calories, doesn't necessarily mean they are a world better for you.

Losing weigh is a work in progress, and absolutely doesn't happen over night. I have been in your shoes, and totally understand how it is easy to lose patience. Just remember you will get there. The longer it takes, the better. That means you are losing weigh the healthy way, and it will stay off! No diet fads, diet pills, cleanses, etc are forever. The only "forever" about a weight loss journey is changing your lifestyle. Once you find workouts you enjoy, and healthy recipes to your liking, it only gets easier.

    Hope this helps :)

Thank you all for your quick responses! I am determined to beat this! It is really an addiction and just defeated the most challenging thing I have ever went through. If I can beat that one I can this one as well! I am finding it hard to eat enough healthy food tho! I feel like I have been eating ALL day! Is that normal? I am scared I am over eating but I have logged all I my food for the last two days and I am reaching (not exceeding) my calories, I have to watch my carbs and sodium tho because they are more than I would like. I am filling up on raw fruits and veggies and find I have to force myself to eat my meals. My kids (all four of them) and my AMAZING husband is going on the journey with me and mostly eating the meals I prepare for myself. Of course they have junk here and there but I am trying to keep it balanced for them. It is helpin me to keep focus because I am doing this for them as much as I am for me. Wish me luck everyone I hope and pray I will see results and keep motivated. If not I at least hope through my diet and exercise I can eventually come off of my beta blockers! Amazing they are not interfering with my heart rate to much, I was able to get it up to 160 today and I haven't done that I at least a year! I actually got so excited doing the turbo fire I start to get emotional because it felt so good to be alive again!!
