One Bad Day = 4 Good Days

I logged a really "bad" day of eating whatever I want, going out to dinner, having a few beers, etc. It was easily 4,000 calories which is about 1,600 calories over my TDEE (without exercise).
On an average good day with exercise, I can get about a 400 calorie deficit under my TDEE.
So for me, 1 really bad day = 4 average good days.
Like many other people I've always felt it unfair how easily I could gain weight and how difficult it is to lose it. Now I understand. If I go on vacation for a week, I could theoretically gain about 3.5 pounds and it would take me roughly a MONTH to lose it.
When you look at the math you can see why consistency is so important. I'm a big believer in having a "free day" once in a while but clearly not too often.
