My weight is stuck! What can I do?

I have been on a 1200 calorie diet and it was doing so good. I lost the total of 21 pounds in 5 weeks, but now I'm stuck on the same weight. I have tried different exercises but it hasn't worked. Any ideas of what to do? Should I increase my calorie diet a little?

Opening up your food diary for review and posting your height/weight would enable better advice.

How long have you been "stuck"? If we're talking less than a few weeks, at an absolute minimum, you aren't stuck. Weight loss is not liner and you will not continue losing 4lbs a week.

switch it up, keep your body guessing

re-introduce cals even, ever so slowly, just do something different, see how your body responds

How long has your weight been stalled?

Do you weigh your food and log everything you eat?

When you say you have tried different exercises and they didn't work, do you mean you didn't lose weight while doing them?

Losing weight is not accomplished through exercise, it's accomplished through eating less than you burn. Sometimes your plan includes exercise but it's not necessary.

The most common reason for not losing weight is underestimating calories in and overestimating calories burned. If you use MFP or internet sources or gym machine calorie burn estimates they are usually pretty darned high.

All that said, please open you diary up so we can give you more concrete advice.

No, this is not the answer. Your body does not guess about anything and changing things is for variety only.

I opened it up. Im not stuck anymore either but could use some ideas for more exercises. Having trouble with the belly fat that wants to keep holding on. I have lost 35 pounds so far but still have 21 more to go to get to my weight goal. The belly is driving me nuts!! Any ideas?

You haven't been logging everything you eat accurately & honestly. Get a digital food scale and weigh everything you eat—even packaged foods.

Right now, you have no idea how many calories you're eating.

21lb in 5 weeks sounds drastic!
