Losing weight too slowly

I came back on here and realized that I've only lost 16 pounds in the past 4 and a half months. How on earth could I be losing so slowly when I am exercising at least 5 days a week, eating right, weight training every other day and basically doing everything the "experts" tell you to do? I was 157 pounds 4 months ago now I am 141. I feel....pissed. Yeah I am grateful I am smaller but I have 25 pounds more to go and I didn't realize it took me that long to lose only 16 pounds since I don't weigh myself a lot.

That is right about 1 pound per week, which is where you should be. The closer you get to goal, the harder it can get. But you are doing great, at least weight loss wise (I don't know what you eat or how much, so I can't address that).

That's just under a pound a week which is healthy, sustainable, and to be expected when you don't have a lot to lose. Have you picked something up that weighs 14lbs lately?

Not sure what you mean but I am weight lifting around 13 to 14 pound weights now.

I just mean that 4 and a bit months ago, that 14lbs was inside your body... Now it isn't.

Thanks. I know I am doing it the healthy "right" way for the first time in my life. In the past I would go through cycles of starving myself and losing a ton of weight fast, and then of course, binging and gaining it all back. I am for the first time ever actually losing weight the right way and am happy about it. I just expected to be losing 2 pounds a week consistently. That would be fine with me but I feel like it's coming off too slowly.

You are doing great! Keep up the hard work and let it come off slowly because that is more sustainable in the long run.

Oh yeah I get it. It is heavy as heck to me when I am lifting that amount lol I know it's a decent amount of weight. I can see a difference in me. I just want to be at my goal NOW. The wait is killing me.

I totally get this. But this is the kind of thinking that sometimes causes people to get frustrated and quit. You are doing great, so just hang in there.

2 lb a week is actually pretty unrealistic for someone with your weight goals. And weight training slows down the process (in a good way!) because it maintains muscle so that what you're losing is actually more fat.

I know it is really hard to be patient, but you are doing great! Keep it up and focus on the positive as much as possible.

I was 157 pounds in march. From the beginning of March until now, I worked out nearly every single day. I've only lost about 13 pounds. I weigh 144 now. Unfortunately, losing weight so slowly is normal for me because I'm already very athletic and it's quite hard for me to lose weight. Just keep on going and doing what you're doing. It will all pay off if you work hard.

1 pound a week for the amount you have to lose is a good loss. Lower your expectations you didn't put it on overnight so it wont come off overnight either. Patience

That's roughly 1 pound a week, and awesome! I lost 3.8 from May 11-June 7, and as my goal is a realistic 500 per day deficit: I'm on target.

Your steady weight loss means you're doing things right.
