I just did it this past week to gt into my Halloween costume. It worked for me but I only did it for three days once and it was mostly water weight.
  • what is it? the one with cottage cheese or something?

Any diet will work for the short term. The question you have to ask, are you hear for a short term or a long term. Life style change, like eating and working out like the thin person you want to be, is for the long term.
  • The three day thing makes you loose a lot of water. It's ok if you are getting ready for a photo shoot or want to look a bit better for a wedding or something, but don't expect the weight to stay off. If you want to get slim and stay that way, you have to make lifestyle changes.

I like the eating healthy, drinking water, and exercising approach. It's better for the heart, mind, and body. No crash diet is considered healthy. Always keep that in mind.

The 3 day diet is like the grapefruit diet but with MORE carbs (you are allowed toast and certain starchy veggies forbidden on the grapefruit diet).

I've done the grapefruit diet 2x before just for fun (yes, obviously it’s not a permanent lifestyle change).

The first time I made the error of drinking low-cal grapefruit juice rather than 100% grapefruit. That meant I was getting NO carbs and I crashed after 3 days (too exhausted and unhappy) but I lost 3 lbs in 4 days (of course probably water weight).

Tried it again a couple months ago buying Tropicana 100% grapefruit juice and was never tired, I was great! I even made it through a pot-luck at work by eating nothing but cooked broccoli (my dish of course ;) red pepper slices and lots of roasted chicken. I lost 3 lbs in 5 days and quit after that (I just did it right before a fitness assessment at the gym b/c I wanted to make sure my mid-day fully dressed weight showed up as <140, my actual is 137).

It’s really low in fiber since the only veggies you can really have is salad and I love All-Bran which is of course forbidden so I would think if you did it for the full 12 days, things would stop moving if you know what I mean after 6 or 7 days which would inhibit weight loss.

You're an adult, I don't need to repeat as others said before me that this isn't a permanent solution but it’s fun especially if you are going to an event or something b/c you will gain those lbs back over the next couple weeks unless you keep up the low-carb lifestyle.

Feel free to ask any questions!
