Subtle Ways to Make your Family Healthier

Hello All,

Advice needed.

As I'm dropping the pounds, getting more active and eating healthier my dear OH seems to be putting on the pounds I'm losing. He's not very active and has a very stressful job, besides keeping his dinners healthy do you have any other tips to make him healthier - as I want him to be around forever. I've tried talking to him about it, but he stresses out, uses his job as an excuse and says he has no time etc. So are there any ways to do it subtly?

My Dad is also similar, he's very overweight, can talk for hours on weightloss tips; though I've never seen him lose weight and needs a big of a subtle push in the right direction.

I know it took me a while to start changing my lifestyle; what can I do to help promote them to change theirs?

Any advice?

State your point once in a direct, straightforward way, then leave everyone alone about it unless they come to you for advice/support.

Keep being an awesome example. Plan fun activities like picnics, bowling, going to the water park. (Even adults love water slides!) Cook healthy meals that are delicious. Good health can be very infectious! It's important not to nag (not that you are) but sometimes people who are getting healthy also get a little smug and preachy, and that will backfire. They need to see the benefits for themselves before they can make a commitment.

Delicious healthy meals are a great idea. If your husband can bring a lunch to work, make leftovers or lunches for him. My husband would eat Quiznos or Chipotle every day if I didn't make him lunches, but he honestly prefers leftovers because his limited fast food choices get boring.
