Do doctors ever prescribe calorie deficits?
Options
Just out of curiosity, I'm wondeiring how many people have had their doctor tell them to count calories for weight loss. It seems most doctors want to prescribe a pill or hand out information on low-carb or low-fat diets. Some even have their own weight-loss clinics and give injections. Has anyone ever had their doctor simply give them a calorie goal to meet?

Doctors aren't dieticians, so many of them are probably not sure how many calories a patient should be aiming for. My doctor just told me to exercise and cut carbs.
And on a cynical note, a doctor can't charge for telling you to meet a calorie goal.0
