Lower ab pain from workout

I feel like I've pulled something in my lower abs - I think it occurred while I was running on the treadmill last night. I'm a new runner and have been trying to make sure I run correctly to avoid injury in my legs, but now my abdomen hurts. The pull feels like it goes in a diagonal line from around the top of my pelvis down almost to my crotch. I think it's the obliques, but am not really sure, it seems to be the only muscle that would follow that direction. Pain is not continuous only seems to hurt when twisting sightly or when I try to forcefully squeeze my tummy in/tense my abs.
I think I have pretty bad posture from sitting all day so I wondered if it could be related to this? I'm not sure I can avoid using my abs completely, does anyone have any advice for faster healing of this kind of pull/overwork? - I'm obviously going to stop going to the gym for a bit!
I don't think it's a hernia, I didn't really feel a wrench as such and I have no lumps, just aches today.
