Guilt Guilt Feeling Guilty!!!

So.... I have been working my tail off (literally) and after loosing 40 lbs. I started seeing a bit of a plateau so during my work lunches I would go for a walk/job around the campus I work at. well I did just that yesterday like other times and I felt great, no issues until.....

Last night I left my my left knee was swollen however it is not. It feels like the size of a grapefruit but I repeat again is not. My husband always gets on me for running on the regular streets saying that is not good for the knees and I have always brushed him off but now I am starting to believe that.

Now here I am, with a knee that makes a LOUD pop/crack noise when I straighten it ( not in pain like yesterday) but it bothers me and I am freaking out bc I didn't workout today to let it "rest" but i'd like to burn some calories and not feel guilty about....

What's this Lady to do???

Help.....

REST! Ice it for a bit today, and if it still hurts tomorrow, consider going to a doctor. Knees are so important, you don't want to permanently mess them up, trust me! I hurt my knee a couple years ago and still have pain and haven't gotten back my full range of motion.

If you still eat at a deficit, you won't have to worry about weight gain.

I know that's probably not the answer you want, but if your body is hurting, it needs & deserves a break. There's nothing wrong with taking a rest day.

I realized a long time ago that it is better to rest a day or two than to push through a potential injury just to really get injured and be out months! Rest for a few days and just watch your calories close.

If you're feeling pressure inside the knee (with no apparent swelling) you may be suffering from a Baker's Cyst (a buildup of extra synovial fluid in the joint which can lead to a bulge & rupture of the sac - hurts like hell but not usually any permanent damage).

Whether or not this is the issue the treatment is the same.......RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevation) don't let a minor issue turn into a full blown injury (something that we've all done toughing it out.....)

    This.
  • Thanks for the advice... I will rest it for a couple of days then try again! I am exercising my arms with free weights (light) and my resistance cable! :)
