Taking a week off...

Is this okay to do? It may be a dumb question to some, but I have not taken any time off from working out. Meaning like taking a rest week or anything. Is it needed?

I am sooo tired, not sure if I need vitamins, but I do not have much energy after work and I cannot get up in the morning.

Do you take any time off once in a while?

If you're pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion to where it affects your daily life I'd say a break is in order. Do you never take a rest day? You really should be giving yourself a day to recover if you're working out.

Oh I do take rest days. Usually just twice a week. I rested yesterday, but I'm tired. Not feeling it. I love to workout, but for some reason I'm not liking the idea of it today nor yesterday.

You should do a deload week once every 6-8 weeks of training. Either take the week off or do 50% load. Your CNS will love you for it.

I took about 5-6 months off of my lifting program for mental health and I had lost some motivation (and it was too cold)....

Sometimes, it's just needed. I did a lot of resistance and body weight stuff instead.

Not recommending 5 months off, but still...

I'm actually in the same boat right now. Just started a new more intense workout regime (P90X) and this week I have been feeling run-down and tired. Previous to P90X I was still working out 6 days a week just with a less intense program.

Not sure if I should do a de-load or just up my calories more to compensate for the extra effort. I upped my calories a bit already for P90X but perhaps I didn't up them enough.

i took a week off recently from counting and just ate when i was hungry. toned down my pt as well. and lost 1.4 lbs. i think taking my mind off it all relieved stress and let my body let go. i know i learned what hunger was instead eating whem thirsty or bored or when the clock told me to eat.

I am afraid that if I take a week off of working out and I do lose weight, that it will be muscle loss. I do not want that.

I felt the same when I was doing P90x but I was doing double...I ended up feeling tired and depressed. I didn't lose anything by the end...the worst of all I felt so depressed...I took last week of p90x off and then picked up chalean extreme. Since then I never felt the same blue again. I think it's something to do with program itself. It's such huge time/energy commitment. Yoga days just killed me rigth off the start.

    I probably won't do p90x again for a while...

You won't lose muscle in a week. Your strength could drop slightly, but it's normal. Just make sure you are eating enough and hitting your protein.

I was like this with Insanity. After a few weeks of it I was starving all the time and beat down. I couldn't up my calories, cause I was already eating 1850 - 2000 and gained weight from it. Now I just do Insanity pure cardio once in a while. I feel the same way about the commitment. I could not commit to 6 days of that. I know how you feel!

well yes and no. After P90x, i learned how to hold back a bit if I feel extremely exhausted. Looking at my report, I have been doing 6 days even 7 per week for the most of the part without feeling too much. But I also have days like today, just don't want to do anything so I listen to my body and do nothing. :) tomorrow is another good day~

Ah gotcha! I have never tried P90x I just felt like this with Insanity. Now I do zumba and weight training. 5-6 times a week. Listening to your body is key!
