Is 1,200 calories enough for someone who is 5'9 & 205 pounds? Im looking to lose weight. I dont want to end up binging on foods because im not getting enough

depending on bf%, most likely, categorically not enough. granted im taller but im 6'3 185lbs at like 9% and my maintenance is around 3.1k so anything below about 2400 is pushing it. EDIT: *pushing it for me as i diet down

Probably not, but if you just plug your numbers into MFP it will tell you the correct goal. What does it say?

Mine is spot on. You have to choose the correct daily activity level and remember to input exercise. Your link is for TDEE, and that method works, too, but you have to choose the correct activity level and remember not to input your exercise since it's already included.

i know it's just that I really dont know how many calories I would burn lifting because sessions vary so much e.g. legs compared to arms, as do sets and reps. Also i'm fairly sure they got my base metabolic rate wrong (ie no exercise input), presumably because thats elevated by regular exercise

For someone who is 5 9" 205lbs I personally think 1200 is too low, Im shorter than you and started at a higher weight than you and was losing weight comfortably at 1600+ for 2lbs moving to 1900 for 0.5/1lb perweek
