Calories burned - runtastic - how to count?

Just wondering if any of you can help me.

I have started exercising along with calorie counting from the last week. I am logging my exercises to the runtastic which is connected with my fitnesspal. I am just wondering what method are you using to count burned calories? I am not sure if runtastic is counting the calories properly as it showed this for example yesterday:

Elliptical 30 mins, 5.55 km - 383 kcal
Stationary Bike 30 mins, 11.35 km - 281 kcal

I am thinking that the amount of calories burned should be much less.
Could you please advise me what is the best way to count your burned calories? Or is it runtastic showing a good amount of burned calories?

And I am 25 and 164 cm tall and 76.5 kg

Heart Rate monitors are considered to be the most accurate ..... and generally only for steady cardio (such as running / eliptical / cycling).

I wear a Polar HRM when I'm out running and have runtastic on the phone. Runtastic often overestimates by as much as 100%.

    HRM shows a 1 mile run at 8 mins per mile burn around 110kcals for me (180cm / male / 42yrs old / 218lbs)
Runtastic will show me around 200 kcals for the same.

I always use the HRM burn and rarely eat back ALL of the calories reported....
