What have you eliminated or cut back on from your diet since your lifestyle change?

Mine are:

Pop (eliminated since Jan 08)
Fried foods (although, I still allow myself 1 or 2 french fries every once in a while)
butter (eliminated)
alcohol (cutting back, but not eliminating all together. And I'm a lot more conscious of how much I fdrink now)
bread (cutting back)

I can't think of anything. :embarassed:

I've cut back on a lot of food, but can't think of any I've eliminated. :embarassed:

    ○ Soda (quit LONG ago)
    ○ Fast food restaurants (boycotted McDonald's!)
    ○ Alcohol (for 29 out of 30 days in a month)
    ○ Baked goods (or anything found at a bakery)
    ○ Anything fried
    ○ Candy (that's an obvious sacrifice in the weight loss game)
    ○ Anything that's not whole grain (no white bread or rice or pasta)

    good job!!!

    I don't eat white bread
    I don't drink soda
    I don't eat donuts
I don't eat fried foods (or mostly don't....once in a while you need a fried calamari...I mean come on!)

I mostly watch or moderate certain other foods...like butter, breads/pastas, junkfood and desserts

I wish I could say I stopped eating the first three because of here but I just don't really like them soooo....lol...its was sort of easy!

    good thread!
    hugs!

    I don't eat:

meat - for the past 20+ years
fast food - 20+ years (restaurants used to use lard, so pretty much gave them both up at the same time)
    soda - past 10+ years
deep fried food - past 3 years (maybe once a year I'll have french fries)

    since June of last year:
    HFCS
    hydrogenated oils
many processed foods, though I still love boca burgers
    non-whole grain foods
    refined sugar
    butter

the last three have the "once a week" exception for my dessert of the week. Chocolate cake made with whole wheat flour, olive oil, and agave nectar just isn't the same:wink: Also, when traveling, many of these are next to impossible, though I do try.

    Refined, processed foods
eating only half of my meal if we go out to dinner
cut back a lot on wine
I have made quite a few changes over the past year ....all toward the healthy. I don't remember when I last had fast food. Oh wait last week I did have a wendy's Mandarin orange salad. No fried foods , no chips no soda, no candy.

reg soda is now gone i drink diet
reg ice tea is now diet
but really i've just made better choices i eat suger free candy sometimes for my 100 calorie snack and it tastes just as good i do have to admit i have only had ice cream once since i startedin april and it was a weight watchers one. i 've just learned to look at things and say no and eating something every once in a while isn't going to kill me last night somebody brought in fresh fudge to work and i had 2 pieces then i stopped it was good enough i think allowing yourself a few bites here and there keeps you on track better

I haven't really eliminated anything from my diet, I just eat less of it, and less often.

I have only had fast food once in the last 6 months...paid for it the next day:sick:
I eat chocolate at least twice a week...I like the dark chocolate anyhow..and I eat a small piece and then stop. I also switched to whole wheat bread and pasta...and I never was much of a rice or potato eater so that isn't that hard to give up.

like gto-judge it's more about cutting back than cutting out altho -
pizza, donuts, and bagels just aren't worth the calories or the fat. I don't eat suger but love splenda. Limited bread and bakery goods. Thank God for laughing cow cheeses!

Okay, these are the things I am avoiding. I don't purchase them at the store, but I still eat some of them at other people's houses or at restaurants. I don't want to be difficult, I guess. Either way, I eat a LOT less than I used to.

    no butter
    no margarine
    no milk
less cheese (I can't give it up!)
    no high fructose corn syrup
    no artificial sweeteners
    no alcohol
I usually buy whole grain bread and pasta, and brown rice

I now use olive oil, almond or rice milk, and small amounts of maple syrup, honey, agave syrup, or good old-fashioned sugar. I also try to buy as many "natural" foods as much budget allows, meaning no preservatives. I try to buy more staples, and make meals from scratch. It's hard because it can be time-consuming!

Oh, and now I read labels to see if things have trans fats in them. And I am avoiding fast food--although I went to McD's last week. Bad, bad, bad girl!

I haven't really denied myself anything, but I have cut WAAAAAYYY back on a lot of stuff.

I don't eat an entire restaurant meal anymore - lunch, light, or half portions only.

I rarely eat fast food, and when I do it's healthier stuff - fruit n yogurt parfaits, chicken fajita pitas, etc.

I've started buying whole-wheat bread, skim milk, and light yogurt, ice cream, condiments.

I have only eaten 1/4 of a donut since January, but I think donuts might just be the worst possible food ever... so much sugar, so few nutrients.

    Didn't mind giving up:
    red meat
    chocolate
    full-fat cheese
    the salt shaker
    white pasta
    fried food
any baked goods (cookies, doughnuts, etc)
regular soda (can't stand it now)

    Still bothers me:
ice cream (now occasional froz. yogurt--when I'm pregnant all bets are off)
pepperoni pizza (now whole grain veggie)
    sugary cereals
    microwave popcorn (sodium!)

    Need to get rid of:
    ALL soda (1-2 a day)

I think anytime you put any of your favorites as "off limits" you often set yourself up for failure. If I find a darn good substitute (protein bar instead of candy bar) I'm okay with it.

coffee?? Wow, you've got some good willpower!

I've upped my coffee intake to compensate for all the stuff I've been denying myself.

I've pretty much eliminated fast food and high GI starches/sugars from my diet. Instead I eat mountains of fruits/vegetables and a lot of lean protein.

I don't think I can totally cut out anything.

I have drastically reduced my Pepsi intake, though. I am a huge Pepsi lover (I swear it's what got me out of bed some mornnigs). I've replaced it with water, but still have a Pepsi for special occasions or when the meal begs for it (pizza, hamburger).

Hmmmm... having a hard time thinking of anything that I have totally given up. Not a big donut/bagel (bakery goods) fan, so that stuff is no big deal anyway. I just finished my McDonalds Asian Salad with grilled chicken and low-fat dressing. If I want a french fry (because someone around me is eating them) I'll take a couple, and enjoy them. I just don't eat the whole bag ! I think just knowing we only have a certain amount of calories a day keeps us on the healthy choice side, because we want to get the most bang for our buck. I love my 100-cal Healthy Choice Fudge Bars, which is good for my chocolate craving without totally blowing my calories. Fried foods - just not worth the cals/fat ! Have a great Mom's weekend everyone !
