peri menopausal weight gain.

Hi. My name is Barb. I have never been over weight per se but in the last year or so I have steadily been gaining weight. I am fifty years old and am peri menopausal so my metabolism is changing. I actually thought it could be my thyroid but display none of the other symptoms. I need to change some bad habits and loose about ten pounds. Any one out there have a similar situation?

I was forced into menopause in my late 30's when I found I had ovarian cancer. I am now 45 and menopause make losing weight 50 times harder. You have to eat better and get more exercise then ever before. I could drop weight easily before all that...Now I have 30 pounds to drop and its hanging on for all its worth!

It is definitely fifty times harder! I have gained maybe eight pounds and have not been eating any more or exercising any less. I thought if I joined a support group and started logging my calories, it may help. I just joined and started logging yesterday so we'll see if it helps:) Good luck to you!

Hi, Barb! I think I am in the throws of peri menopause. My body is doing some very bad things to me lately. I am 44 and extremely active, but have really started packing on the pounds. Because I have been so active, I haven't had to worry too terribly much about food, but I know that I will have to change some eating habits If I want to maintain a good weight. I have no advice other than I feel much better when I exercise. Indigestion seems to accompany my state as well so I'm eating more raw veggies and fruits.
