not eating all my calories

Is it ok to not eat all your calories? I'm just not hungry to be honest. Has anyone tried the "listen to your body" method? does it work can you see weight loss from this by only eating when your actually hungry?

I set a weekly calorie goal instead of a daily one.

Some days I eat less, some days I eat more.

As long as you're not eating -too- little:) Definitely make sure you are eating above your BMR.

Some people have great success intuitively eating. Others don't. I don't, t hat's why I was overweight in the first place ^_~ Lol.

    A few questions first ...
What is your daily goal? How much are you actually eating? Height? CW? GW?

Entirely depends on what kind of food you're eating. If you get ALL of your calories from fat and protein it's very likely that you're not eating enough even though you may feel very full. If you're getting a lot of calories from carbs, it's very likely that you're eating too much by the time you feel full.

Depends............how low are your daily calories?

Your body is using calories 24/7.....heart, lungs, kidneys, etc. Eating too little can lead to fat + muscle loss.

Hunger is over rated. Hormones can effect hunger. Eating a ton of fiber will effect hunger, but fiber doesn't fuel lean muscle. Most people here (to lose weight) are not very good "listeners."

Context matters. Are you 100 calories below your goal or 1000? Is it one day a week or every single day? Are you banking calories for cheat/higher cal days? Are you getting enough protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, etc?

I think intuitive eating can absolutely work for people. But I also think it can be counterproductive to weight loss, because it's easy to mentally talk yourself out of listening to your hunger signals. Not to mention that your ratio of macros can impact your feelings of satiety, which is why people encourage tracking. If I have lots of protein, I'm good for a few hours. Give me a carb heavy meal and I'm ready to eat again an hour later.
