Easy Low Sodium Salsa

I LOVE salsa...but commercial salsa has too much sodium for me! So I made my own.

1/2 cup Hunt's diced tomatoes, no salt added
1/2 medium sized vidalia onion (approximately)
1/2 yellow bell pepper
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy seasoning

Blend all together in a food processor. This makes about 3 servings, 1/3 cup each serving (give or take...I didn't measure it all when I was done).

Per the MFP recipe calculator:

36 calories
12b carbs
0g fat
1g protein
11 mg sodium

Commercial salsa usually has 100-150 mg sodium per 2 Tbsp! And I don't know about you...but I NEVER eat just 2 Tbsp of salsa. I'd rather spend my sodium ration on the tortilla chips! :-)

Thanks!! I LOVE salsa!! I will keep this recipe. I do have that Mrs. Dash. I didn't know what I was going to do with it.

Sounds so good! I love salsa, and I have the same issue with sodium :( Thanks so much for sharing!

Just a FYI, for anyone that lives in a warm climate, exercises regularly and sweats and doesn't have high blood pressure sodium shouldn't be too much of any issue.

You can also increase your potassium as it is about the ratio of the 2.

I have made a similar recipe in the past but found it didn't keep well.
