I am looking for anyone who has had this surgery and can tell me there is an end in site to the misery. I had a hiatal hernia surgery and when doctor went in he saw you could see through my diaphragm so he fixed the hernia and graphed pig skin over my diaphragm. Something that was never mention pre surgery. I also had gallbladder removed at the same time. I am home now recovering but feel anxiety every time I try to eat (soft food only) because food and liquid are getting stuck in my throat. I wonder what will happen if I cant work it down. Will I ever get to eat normal again? I am still in pain. My daughter asks if I will be like this all summer because she wants to go to the pool. I have missed a week of her activities and she is sad. I am feeling defeated that I even did the surgery. I felt like it had to be done after 20 plus years of acid relax has damaged the esophagus and pre cancer cells were starting. I needed to be able to heal the esophagus before things got worse. I also have a lot of gas pain in the shoulders if there's any suggestions on how to relieve this pain. I am 42 yrs old. I am used to working out everyday and cant because of the surgery pain.
