Food scale - I'm a believer!

I haven't lost any weight for a couple of weeks and finally went out this morning and bought a food scale. I eat half an advocado at meals quite often. I always log a 'half medium at 30 grams'. First thing I weighed today was my half advocado and was pretty surprised to see it weighed in at 90 grams! 3 times more then I log!
Believe all those people who say get a scale!

yes it has been so helpful for me, too! its really hard to guess portions. i was shocked to realize how tiny a 1 oz portion of cheese is though!0

I agree. A medium sized banana or apple were soo much more than I thought. It is a pain but it helps over time to have a better feel for how big the portions really are.

It can also work the opposite way like some foods you would have a small amount of you can actually have a huge amount.
100g of blueberries is big... vegetables is huge...

Eh I find a serving (84g) of vegetables tiny. I need to eat two to be satisfied. Except green beans somehow.
But overall it depends on your eyeballing skills. The problem is that most of us have no notion of what '3oz of chicken' or 100g of strawberries is. Even the whole 'one pack of cards' thing doesn't mean much when chicken pieces can be more or less thick.
After over a year of weighing, I still try to guess and I still get it wrong 90% of the time.0 -
I don't weigh foods because I don't calorie count, but I am floored by the amount of people who do calorie count but don't weigh.
They seem to go hand in hand to me.0
