Bad fast food experience today

I don't normally eat fast food but my bf does and we ended up at a Popey's Chicken. I was starving! I considered going across the parking lot to Starbucks because I think they serve oatmeal cups all day. Perfect! But instead I googled on my phone and saw a side of Popey's red beans & rice is only 230 calories so I got that. But after finishing it in 4 bites I ended up eating 2 of my bf's catfish fillets and half a biscuit. I looked it up just now and that SNACK cost me nearly 800 calories! I'm so pissed!! :(

Meh. Just eat sensibly for the rest of the day and don't worry about overages too much. Try again tomorrow. I wouldn't be too emotionally invested in it. It was surprising for me when I first started out to find some of my favorite foods really high calorie but it's no big deal. This is a lifelong thing. Little bumps mean nothing.

Hmm.. well, can you adjust your other meals down a little smaller so you don't go over your limit? Or do a little extra exercise?
I found a great Roti shop today, and being in the southwest now, I havn't found good caribbean Roti in a while (it's all Mexican food here). So I just HAD to have a vegetarian Roti...really like a burrito with entils, chickpeas, sweet potato, hot sauce, --no cheese or anything like that. Good for you, but probably a good 600-700 cals. Whatev. I burn a lot through exercise and still have plenty of cals left over for dinner, but I feel like having a fairly small dinner anyway, since I'm now not all that hungry.
Would you be ok with having a small dinner then?

Thanks for the words of encouragement! It just put such a damper on my day because it only kept my hunger at bay for a couple hours, then I got RAVENOUS again, came home and gobbled 4 hard boiled eggs because they were sitting on the counter, 2 slices bread and the bowl of homemade chili I had planned to eat for dinner originally....eeeek! I'm scared to log it all!

I just gotta remember it's a life change, not a diet that I must conquer short term and then be done with it! :)

It's all about the averages... you just need to make sure that on average you are eating less than maintenance and you will lose weight. One day does not an average make. The only sad thing is that you feel bad about a little treat. When I eat a few more calories than I plan I try to make sure they are calories I am going to enjoy!

Tuesday, I tried to do well with eating out for middle child's middle school promotion, but that quickly went downhill and I ended up eating ALL THE THINGS. I felt awful, because it was a LOT of food (I think I went over by 1000+ calories). So I drank a lot of water and just started fresh the next day.

It happens. Try not to focus on the failure and just do better next time.

Just want to clarify, I don't feel bad about a little treat....I love me some ice cream and whatnot and will try to leave calories left over for a dessert a few days a week, but the 800 calorie fast food meal I had was just "meh"....that's why I felt I really cheated myself, especially when I could have just gotten than damn oatmeal across the way....at least that would have been "cleaner" eating.

Anyway, for the record, I also gobbled up tons of ice cream and a random piece of corn bread. A nice hefty 2300 calorie day. *hides*

I think the moral here is to not let yourself get starving so that it clouds your judgement!
