what to eat that does not have sodium in it?

I get aggravated when i go to the grocery store, there is not much foods to choose from that is not processed and that don't have much sodium in it. My husband has high blood pressure and taking meds for it, and my blood pressure started creeping up on me since i am getting older and am overweight. But all the foods i like have too much sodium in it, what can i eat? Plain vegetables just taste too plain for me. I have tried the Mrs. Dash stuff, its ok, but still not much flavor.

#1 - Processed foods are VERY bad for you...
If you can eat fresh produce and meats, you will cut your sodium in half or even more. Take a look at my food diary for ideas. I know that in the beginning things may be bland, but you will appreciate the taste of the FOOD instead of the salts eventually. Your body is somewhat addicted... You need to stick with a low sodium diet for at least three weeks to really feel that you've kicked the habit. If you stick with it for 3 weeks, you will start to notice things tasting saltier when they are high in sodium. You'll get it... Plus, "blah" for food is better than having to take a bunch of pills and feeling crappy :flowerforyou:

Any dark green veggie is great with 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese and that only has 120 mg of sodium :bigsmile: it's also good on plain wheat pasta or potatoes:flowerforyou:0

fresh food with a dash of sea salt should be ok. ANYTHING ready made/processed/fast has LOTS of salt added.
If you dont like steamed veg, then try roasting them in a little olive oil. You can get olive oil infused with garlic or chilli, or just add your own herbs - yummy!
Roasted butternut squash and cumin seeds are my fave :bigsmile:
