This is proabably silly but my grandmother and I were talking about my exercise. And she told me that if I exercised everyday as well as did my outside stuff (mowing, hoeing in the garden, etc/) then all of my fat would turn to muscle and I would stay the size I am. Is this true?

No, because fat doesn't turn into anything, but there's still a grain of truth in there. Ish. Opinions differ (as with everything.)
You can google 'recomp effect', which is an oft-argued about process for beginners where they eat around maintenance-calories (no more nor less than they need), burn fat and build muscle (small amount) at around the same time, which may have been what she was getting at. It doesn't necessarily mean you'd stay the same size and fat doesn't 'turn into' muscle0 -
Fat doesn't turn to muscle, so I think your grandmother might of misinformed you there... because if you lost 20lb in fat and then it turned all into muscle - 20lb of muscle is a lot to build.
Fat gets burned.
Muscles grow.
Find out your TDEE (use this calculator: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html)
Eat 20% below your TDEE. Burn off the calories through exercise, and then eat back half or 75% of the burnt calories. This way, you'll lose fat and improve your fitness... but I'm afraid fat doesn't turn into muscle0
