Okay, people. I am so close!!!! So close to not being obese any more!!! I just wanna be in the "overweight" category!!!

My BMI (which I view with suspicious, distrusting eyes but continue to use as a measure of progress) still puts me in the obese category, but I'm three or four measly pounds away from saying sayonara to that label, and I can't wait to get there!!! I've already lost 30 lbs (I'm including the three that I lost before I joined MFP), and that success has been so awesome that I'm losing focus and motivation to stay the course. I need to keep reminding myself: Okay. I'm much skinnier than I was 30 lbs ago. But. I'M STILL OBESE. This journey is not over!!!

I went to the hair salon yesterday, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like there is nothing like sitting in a salon chair in front of a full-length mirror staring at your chubby self under a cape with a double chin squidging out of the neck and wet, flat hair to make a girl feel truly fat!! It's odd, because I still feel fat and pudgy and gross, but I also feel much skinnier and healthier and prettier.... And the combination of those feelings has me stuck. I feel fat, and that is making me feel bad about myself so I wanna eat to feel better.... and then I also feel much skinner, and that makes me feel like wow, look how far I've come, I don't need to keep trying so hard! When in reality, I should be EVEN MORE MOTIVATED to stick with the plan!

Anyway. This post is SOOOO scattered and crazy, I apologize for the stream-of-consciousness ramblings... just wanted to express myself and hopefully get some encouragement from others to stay positive and keep on keepin' on!

STay the course! I got really relaxed about 6 months ago thinking "Wow! Look how well I have done!" Since then I have gained 15 lbs. You are doing so great, keep that fact in mind and remember that you don't want to struggle through those 30 lbs again. KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!!!!!

Damn, girl!!! YOU've lost 30 POUNDS!!!! Focus on how skinny, pretty and wonderful you feel and remember you're probably not seeing yourself how you really are in the mirror. Our brains tend to distort what we see based on your old self concept. SEE YOURSELF as that 30 lbs. slimmer girl. You can do 4-5 more pounds, you've already proved that 6 - 7x over!

Don't lose focus now, we're all sending you motivating vibes to help you realize how much healthier you are and will continue to be for the rest of your life. You're mighty inspiring, thanks and best of luck.

I just came out of the "obsese" category also- and tho those things are a bit inaccurate unless you do the official test, they aren't a terrible guage of where you should be. I also like to use this test, once a month http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html

Every few pounds/inches counts! It feels like great progress to me.

Good luck and stay the course. You can do this!

Well done on your loos so far! 30 lbs isa fantastic amount!
I know how you feel though, I'm just a couple of lbs off my goal weight and my motivation has just disapeared. At one point I was within 0.25lb of it, and since then I've 'maintained' to within 2 lbs of my goal. I know its where I set out to be and I'm happy at this weight, but the competative side of me feels that until I see that 11st 0lbs on the scale I wont feel as if i've truely finished. KWIM? Then I want to maintain properly, (within 3 or 4 lbs) not just eat well for 2 days and badly the next etc.
  • THANK you so very much for posting this! I am at the EXACT same place! I can NOT make my eyes see the truth of it! I have lost 30 lbs too and it just seems so strange to see myself as fat and yet have a" go me" moment when my clothes fit looser, but then realizing i have a good ways to go still...
Anyway, be encouraged that you are not alone!

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! I have 13 more pounds to loose and I will have lost my 30 pounds!!! I have been sick all week and haven't exercised and have ate horribly!!! Now I don't want to get started again! I know how much happier I will be with these last 13 pounds gone and I know I need to get back on it!!

Stay on track and you will be more happy with yourself when you get there!!
