Why does this happen?

Why is it that when you have a weight loss goal for an event, everything goes to #@!@!
We planned a trip to Mexico in January a few months ago and I vowed to myself (and to my husband) that I'd lose weight by the time our trip came so I'd feel comfortable in my bathing suit.
BUT
I've actually gained 7 pounds in the past month and am worried I won't even fit the bathing suit I have.
This is not the first time I've done this. What GIVES?
Any insights?

the only thing i can think of is that you are stressed about getting ready for your vaca so you arent focused on dieting and exercising as much! increased stress also increases cortisol which makes you gain weight. make sure you are stayingfocised on the dieting and the exercise just like you would be if you weren't going on vaca! and you still have a few months to work towards your goal so dont stress bout that swimsuit just yet!0

Stop stressing the solution is easy: Low calorie meals everyday, exercise, and the self-control to do those two things everyday!0

Well, there is still time to make it right. You may not be able to reduce your weight by as much as you have on your ticker, but January is a ways away. If you really get committed to doing this - and do it every day with everything you have, you will see results. The reality is that if you reduce your caloric intake and increase your exercise (burning calories), you WILL lose weight. It is all your CHOICE. This is YOUR JOURNEY. You can do it YOUR WAY!! or you can CHOOSE to not do it at all. Changing how you view food, exercise and changing your eating habits and exercise habits WILL get you to where you need/want to be. Having a swimsuit to get into would be a great motivator for me if I were your age. But if that's not enough of a motivator for you, then try to find one that will work better.
You have to do the hard work - you will have to analyze your diet and exercise and make the necessary changes.
