I track my fiber intake instead of sugar. I agree, it's a little insane for me to eat a handful of strawberries and not be able to eat anything else with sugar for the rest of the day.

I agree! I've read about it artificial sugar and am trying to cut it out of my diet as much as possible. Especially since I am upper 20s. I've read it interferes with the production of collagen and elastin. And the other health problems it can cause. I was a big sugar eater. That's why.

Learn moderation, stop trying to cut things out totally. And careful what you read on the internet cause well most is BS. Log your food, practice moderation, and enjoy life.

I've been reading books and a lot of sites. I get the be careful what you read on the internet. But I am!

I'll post some links these would be good things to read:

Log your food accurately and honestly. Go for 80% good choices the other 20% don't worry so much about. There is no reason to be miserable. I eat lots of delicious food and have consistently lost. Keep it simple find a REASONABLE deficit: Most people do not need to eat 1200 calories to lose.

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

Log your food accurately and honestly this thread will help:
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1234699-logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide?hl=logging+step+guide

Find an activity you enjoy doing - I found I love to ride my bike and lift heavy stuff :)

Here are 2 more threads that will help take the time to read them:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants

I am not miserable? I'm feeling like having been jumping into all things health and learning all I can for awhile now and feeling better than ever - my mood is up I'm not as tired - it helped with a lot of things. I feel like I'm being attacked by a lot of people by just pointing out that there is information out there about a lot of things fruit and vegetables can do for your health, your looks, your mood... And so on. And cutting out sugar helps, too. If I want something sugary I will have it here and there but I do not crave it as much the more I choose healthier options. I feel living a healthier life is a good thing. And it's not just to get back in shape. It's to feel good and to live as best I can. So to everyone telling me I'm wrong without talking to a nutritionist, doing research, picking up books... I tell you I don't need that kind of shut down. That kind of negativity does not breed results in my life. Positivity and excitement does. Thank you. I hope you all succeed. And truly hope what works for you all works. I will do what works for me, and makes me FEEL GOOD. Because to me, that is MOST IMPORTANT.

This was in response to fatdoob.

Yikes. This website contains absolutely no evidence for any of its claims, and there's not even any indication of who operates the site. I'm afraid this is a good example of the problem with "I read on the Internet that . . . "

Aside from that, like others, I also generally ignore the high fruit-related sugar counts on MFP. I'm more concerned about the refined sugar from dessert items.

I've read it other places as well. That is why I said research yourself. If you research different places and get information you can compare it.

And I said I misworded it.i was writing fast and from memory. Not writing a research paper. That is why I told you guys research for yourself.

What is going on here? Is it a mistake? I have two small pieces of fruit and the calculator says I'm over my sugar intake. I need that fruit and my vegetables for health. Everyone does. And if I cut out a healthy part of my diet to lose weight I'm going to need to add that back in. So, my question is : has anyone written in to ask or has anyone even noticed this before? Natural sugars are different than added sugars. Many fruits and vegetables have an ability to help you with your weight loss. A lime juiced into a water can flush out fat. It's great for your skin. Blueberries breakdown belly fat. These are some vain reasons to eat these. But, eating our daily fruits and vegetables helps ward off diseases. We need them. Look up a few of your favorite fruits today. Look up health benefits of that fruit. You should come across a few sites. You'll find all the reasons we have been told to eat our vegetables since we were a kid. Crazy, right? Try and stay away from added sugar and keep your fruits and vegetables within the daily range! But make it to that range! ;0) <3 good luck!

Keep in mind that fructose(sugars found naturally in fruits) impacts your body differently than sucrose (plain sugar). Because fruit is loaded with fiber, the sugar from it isn't that bad... or something like that. Its the pure, refined, white sugars you should worry more about. I wouldn't worry about sugar from fruit unless you're a diabetic or have other medical conditions in which your doctor told you to be specifically concerned about sugar.

I was reading about sugar to learn more when I figured why not come back and post what I found here. The top two sites have the recommended amount of sugar a person is supposed to have - one is from Harvard.edu and one is from Livestrong.com and both are good places to find information. The last is an interesting article from the Huffington Post. There is a difference between added sugar and natural sugar from all the places I've read - I mean that's what I've found and I've read a lot of information and have been told the same thing by people as well. But I do not have a site from a recent pull up to share or any other source off the top of my head. If I get to it later today I'll search for that information again and post where it's from. I'm nervous to pull from my head without the proof and sources of where it came from because I got a little backlash for putting things out there. And I wouldn't want to misstate something. Or you guys can do a search or read about it on your own! Hoping this helps, if not I'm sorry if it wasn't what you were looking for. (I have some free time today) :0)

Sorry beautiful, but if you come on here making claims you have to have decent research to back it up. When people don't agree with you, or ask for your documentation, that is normal so don't get defensive. Of course, fruit and vegetables are good for you, but moderation is good for you too. A little of everything is a good rule to follow and if you watch your macros that's what it is. Any claims that certain fruits have special properties are always subject to proof. If you don't have it--forget it. Best.

PS: If the claim is yours, so is the burden of proof.

Sorry snowflake I don't have sources imprinted in my memory. That is why along with saying fruits and vegetables are healthy for you and can do other surprising things - well, I said research it to find it. The fact that I said blueberries help get rid of belly fat and someone denied it right away without researching it - that bothered me. It's pretty well known that that is what it does. Unless numerous sources and people are wrong. That is why I said research it. If people spent time researching these things instead of just denying them then maybe these people would have learned some helpful and fun things. I don't need to have research to back up saying fruit and vegetables are good for your skin, health, and whatnot. If someone does not believe something then look it up - research it. Don't not believe it and state it as wrong. If someone is going to say no blueberries do not help get rid of belly fat then they should post the proof. Because they are condemning someone else's learned knowledge over a period of time. A person can not go back and remember where every piece of information has come from or word everything to everyone's liking. It is really rather frustrating. Can someone write exercise is good for you? Where did they get that information from? Oh, yes - that is direct. They can search for an easy answer. But, for other lesser taught things how am I supposed to remember where I learned it from? Don't attack me for not putting a little number next to each fact I have learned to later look down and connect to the book or internet source or person or doctor the source came from.... It's absolutely insane.

That happens to me about almost every day, and I just ignore it. I've pretty much accepted that I'm gonna go over my sugar. and even though I do, I am still getting results. I think its okay to go over your sugar if we're talking fruits, like you said it's natural, but if it's candy or processed/artificial then yeah I'm skeptical about it.. Best of luck to ya!

You have great results! Keep doing what you are doing.
