Dieting and Eating Disorders

So I am not new to dieting, and although this is a new account, I am not new to this site. I'm a 22 year old grad student who loves cooking and eating and hates exercise. I am so out of shape I can't run. I've always been heavy set. When I was 7 I was put on a stimulant for ADHD and when I went off it at 12 I discovered that I was suddenly always hungry. I put on major weight that stayed through puberty (because it also stunted my growth, I never grew into my weight) and when I went off to college I started the bcp and gained weight on that, and then antidepressants, which I also gained weight on. When I was 12 I quickly developed a problem with cutting and bulimia nervosa. By the time I got to high school I (mostly) had them under control, although I had a tendency to relapse under stress, and they re emerged in college from the stress I was under, and then I entered into a two year long relationship that slowly became abusive and culminated in a sexual assault. I left him after that, but a lot of emotional damage had been done. His fixation on and control over my weight while we were together resulted in a lot of binge eating and weight gain when I left him. Now I am at a very high weight and trying to learn how to lose it with good habits while in recovery (which lasts for life). The thing about having an eating disorder is that it doesn't matter if you are overweight or obese, people insist you don't need to lose weight. You can tell them that you doctor says your family history of diabetes and heart disease means that your weight puts you at a very real risk (like mine did) and they still insist that you don't need to. And there is very little information on losing weight for people in recovery who don't want to relapse. So I am starting this journey pretty much in the dark. I've been through this before and faced relapses or quitting or both, but this time my weight is at the highest it's ever been and that I could really be risking my health if I don't get it down.

Im actually in a really similar situation . Ive had a MFP account before but deleted it when I started recovery . Im a little over a year in recovery and at first I gained some weight but about six months into it , I lost some and althought I don't have much to lose , its difficult to lose weight without falling back into disorderd habits . Recovery is so much more important to me than weight loss but I want to get to a point where I can lose weight in a healthy way and still maintain recovery . So that's what im trying to do now . I also have a tendency to relapse under stress , and am going thru a very stressful time right now so Im trying to be careful and not get too obsessive with things . It sounds like were in similar situations , feel free to add me & Good luck !0
