I eat a lot of sodium in my diet due to to low pressure but I am also extremely puffy faced...... does anyone know if there is a connection between sodium in the diet and chubby cheeks or puffy face? Also ........ can eating too much salt have an effect on my weight loss goals fat wise....... like can sodium make you fat ? I know it causes water retention.... but can it cause fat retention ?

I also have to be mindful to eat enough sodium because of low BP. I definitely have some bloating if I eat too much though. I wouldn't think it could cause actual fat retention though.

It can affect the heart, bones, kidneys -- but some people are more sensitive to it than others.

I thought you researched this stuff already, you certainly run your mouth enough on the forums, giving out "advice".
  • Yes, it is right that salt is a reason behind water retention. Salt is made of sodium, it can be the main culprit when it comes to weight gain, it can also cause serious levels of dehydration. Salt does not cause your body to gain or lose fat. Salt has no calories, but high consumption of salt result temporary weight gain.
