Blueberries (be warned - this is definitely TMI)

I have a smoothie every morning for breakfast. It usually consists of almond milk, vegan protein powder, a banana, and some other sort of fruit. Typically I choose strawberries but sometimes I add blueberries either instead or in addition.

Well, if I add blueberries, even as little as a quarter cup, I have to go to the bathroom within 5 minutes of drinking my smoothie. It's pretty much an immediate stimulant for my body to... ummmmm... do its business.

I'm pretty regular anyway, but blueberries make a trip to the bathroom an immediate necessity. No other fruit has the same result, just blueberries. Blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes, any other blueberry other things aren't quite the same either, just blueberry smoothies.

So, I am sharing this with you all just in case you are having a problem.... ummmm... going. Blueberry smoothies may be a solution for you.

This is WTMI Read at your own risk

I have stomach issues, and recently I was suffering from a specific stomach problem that begins with the letter D for three weeks. I bought a blueberry smoothie from the supermarket and it was the first thing to make a difference. Apparently berries and blueberries in particular are good fiber
  • I was just going to add that blueberries are good for the big "D" word for most people.............
  • Who knew! Blueberries cure depression! Oh... wait.

This is coming at a perfect time for me! I have been having trouble for about a week now. I have been eating all kinds of fiber and nothing is helping. As soon as my blender comes out of the dishwasher I am making a blueberry smoothie! Thank : )

Another bit of helpful info: Blueberries can be pretty expensive but I buy the frozen unsweetened blueberries from Wal-Mart - $11-12 for a HUGE bag (10 cups), which is a lot of money at once but lasts for a long time and is at least1/4 of the price of fresh blueberries per ounce.

All I have is the frozen. I never buy the fresh because they are sooo expensive! I really appreciate the tips!

Blueberries are my fav natural food. I usually eat around a pint at a time when I can afford them. It doesn't cause any regularity issues or the "big D" but it does turn it forest green shade.

Maybe my Gi tract is either really regular...or abnormal...cause blue berries don't cause me to go 10-200 (if you've seen Smokey and the Bandit) any more than usual? :flowerforyou:

Blueberries are one of my fav foods:) And I live in prime blueberry country. Lots grow wild around me. I try to pick them as much as possible when its season. I go regularly but I guess they may be part of the reason I'm more regular during picking season though..

Amazing how "blue" berries will do that particular shade of green.....you would think it would turn it more purple. LOL
