Is it bad to have too much protein? I seem to always go over my protein :/

    You are definitely not in danger of eating too much protein. I have a minimum goal of 100g and really try and hit 150g a day. MFP sets the protein goals really low for some reason.

    The MFP goal is more of an RDA (recommended daily allowance) than a set goal like calories are. You could eat double, probably even triple, the MFP goal and still be just fine.

    Calories are what matter for weight loss.

    Macro nutrients (fat, protein, carbs) help with things like general health, body composition, hunger, etc. For instance, protein is going to help repair and retain your lean muscle mass while you're dieting and it should help to keep you feeling fuller for longer.

    You can set your macros to whatever percentages you like, but most people who use MFP's default numbers should be trying to get into the red on protein every day.Think of it as a minimum to go over, not a maximum to stay below.
