I have more than 150lbs lose and I need all the help and motivation I can get!! I have been logging for a little over 2 months and i am gaining weight instead of losing. I am exercising every day at least 30 min a day. I am at the gym on my lunch break during the week and walking the other 2 days. I have lowered my calorie intake to less than what it says i should be eating. I am so discouraged but I am not giving up!! I need friends to add me and be my motivator!!

Great timing to ask this question! I just read a great feed on here about how weight gain for the first month or so of an exercise routine combined with diet is very common. The reason for weight gain is basically due to your body adjusting to the new lifestyle you are establishing. It does this by storing water weight and glycogen. This adds to the scale number but you are sill burning fat behind that.
I suggest you only weigh yourself once a month. Do not put yourself at risk for discouragement! Stick to your new lifestyle and you will see the numbers shift in the right direction on your second month. Also, you are building heart health and improving your metabolism.
Another great idea is take your measurements. This is a better indicator of your progress than the scale. Stick to it!
Here is the link to the thread. Make sure to read the article posted by a member, very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi:) Having trouble viewing your food diary. Also, most importantly, have you been to the doctor to rule out anything that could be contributing to your struggle to lose weight? Getting bloodwork is very important for you to see what you need to do as far as making the changes necessary.0

It is very hard to keep at it, I am happy you are keeping up with it even though you are gaining. When you go to the gym, what is a typical routine? Do you just do cardio? Light weights? I would be happy to assist you in any way if you need motivation or someone to talk to! I am no expert but have been really hitting the gym hard. I love to see people succeed0

Go get a RMR test done just to make sure you are burning the estimated calories that MFP has setup for you. Some people are just different.0

Muscle is more dense than fat therefore during exercise people ofter have weight gain rather than weight loss a certain points. Try taping instead of using weight as a refrence point. Also if you restrict your diet to much you could slow your metabolic rate causing you to store fat.
Best advice is education, bodybuilding.com has some great tips.0 -
You said you are eating less than what MFP recommends. How much less? In the beginning the body can be a little tricky as it adjusts to the changes. Some things that help are measuring/weighing your food for accuracy and using a heart rate monitor to calculate calories burned. Sometimes it takes time for you to see results. Don't give up. If you are burning more calories in a day than you consume you should start losing. As another said, you should consult a doctor. Many things can affect weight such as medical conditions, medications, and menstrual cycle.0
