I'm 32 year old man, with a desire to become healthy again. I've got a ton of knowledge as I spent most of my life. (age 4 - 21) as an athlete. The problem about being an ex-athlete you don’t always think about how much you eat. This is what happened to me. I was always pretty good about making healthy choices, but even though I ate good I never really watched my portion sizes because well I would just burn it off. I stopped working out and went from about 170lbs at age 23 to about 225lbs by age 25. I never really went over that as my natural metabolism wouldn’t allow it. As an athlete I kept that mind set of I'll lose it whenever I want. However now at 32 I feel like crap. I am serious about getting back to feeling good both mentally and physically about myself. When I found MFP I weighed in at 208 lbs. I've not been here long but I'm hooked because of the quick progress from just being conscious. I have since tracked my daily foods, and work outs if I do them. But I need more. You'll always do more for others than you will ever do for yourself. I need help by someone here holding me to standards, asking me if that ice-cream I ate was worth it or not. (yes sometimes you need ice-cream and you should treat yourself with it). I will do the same for you. Maybe we can swap ideas, recipes, workout plans and motivation. I look forward to meeting and helping some amazing people.
