What are we hungry for?

Starving for something? Ad nauseam, I have been sort of complaining about my insane schedule the past few weeks – this weekend has been yet a new level of insane. I got back from a business trip tonight. I was very good while I was away – handled restaurants/cocktail parties socializing/long hours & late nights with will and made very good food choices.
Come tonight, however, I can’t eat enough. I have been eating non-stop since I got home. I have a mountain of laundry, another party and the beginnings of a cold. I am leaving Saturday for another business trip, this one longer than a week. And I will be working on a cruise ship so the potential to eff. up my plan (not to mention no access to the internet and no connection to MFP) is putting me into a bit of a panic.

So, my eating – so far, all healthy choices and under my calories, is out of control. I just made and consumed almost an entire steamer bag of veggies just to try to feel full.

I am trying to be thoughtful with this pattern, recognize that that feeling in the pit of my tummy is not hunger – it’s stress, panic, exhaustion, overwork, many other things but physical hunger. Eating won’t help, but my instinctive reaction to all this IS TO EAT. It was not an easy realization – but I am pleased to have connected what now seem to be obvious dots.
Maybe recognizing this tonight early on – acknowledging what I am actually feeling – will help me avoid ruining all my achievements and will help me achieve the complete healthy life I am looking to have.

So, what are YOU hungry for?

Breakfast burritos. :) I plan on making some tomorrow morning, low fat tortillas, fat free cheese, Morningstar sausage crumbles and various veggies (maybe even some hashbrowns or home cut potatoes on the side if I get adventurous). mmmm.
