It's a pedometer with a heart rate sensor. There's no way on God's green earth that it will tell you how far you travelled. The description of the product goes way too far out of the way to make it sound more high-tech than it is.How It Works
The key to the accuracy of Accelerator Pro watch lies within the accelerometer sensor. The accelerometer sensor works by detecting changes in the user's movement (acceleration) that are translated into varying degrees of electric current within the sensor. These electric currents are instantly decoded by the watch into highly accurate measurements of speed and distance and displayed on the watch face.
Half the reviews are amusing too. Go to a site like Amazon and read what people say about this thing. It sounds difficult to use, a few complained the bezel came off or got water under it, and most comment that it isn't very accurate in measuring distance. On the plus side it does sound like it gives you an okay approximation of distance travelled and it is cheaper than a GPS watch. I'd say that this will work depending on your commitment and interest in running.
I ran with a gps app on my phone to measure distance until recently. If that's an option for you then save yourself about $90 and just use that.0 -
Would The Vívofit fitness band by Garmin be better choice? GPS watch does me no good as im under a lot of tree cover.
Thanks in advance for any advice.0 -

If I were to buy a pedometer it would be this or the FitBit I think. I really don't know tons about them. They do sell them at the running store I shop at.
How bad is the tree cover? I did 9 miles Sunday and about 6 miles of that was total tree covered. I never had any issues with GPS signal. I've been using that trail for over a year. Occasionally I'll have a small blip but it works 99% of the time under the trees. This is what the trail looks like.
