i recently started the couch to 5k plan. last week i was jogging and when i turned a corner i sort of twisted my shin. i tried googling the pain im feeling but the results that come up are either about the back (like a charlie hourse) or lower close to the ankle. but my pain is high in the front. if you picture the perimeter of my shin like a compas, its north east on my left leg. its like a line of pain running from the bottom of my knee to half way down my leg. i feel it every time i step on it. tonight i tried jogging on it and it was almost impossible and now hurts more so im icing it. what part of my leg is this exactly? is it a ligament or a muscle? what did i do to it? and what should i do to make it heal? .....please and thankyou

It could be your Achilles tendon, which stretches all the way from your heel to the upper part of your calf. I had the same thing not long ago. In most cases, if the injury isn't too bad, icing and some rest will take care of the problem. If the issue persists, however, I'd recommend you seeing your doctor about it.
Here's some info about it : http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/ankleproblems/a/achilles.htm0 -
You shouldn't be running or going for a jog in pain. Stay off until you heal. Until then, rest, ice, compression, elevation, and ibuprofen.0
